We were going to fly but decided to drive at the last moment so we set off on Sunday and got to Cali on Monday. We just hung out and went to the Cheescake Factory for dinner. Love that place! They had a new blueberry cheesecake that was out of this world!
Tuesday we went to Disneyland all day. That place truly is magical. I love when you take the little ones and they see the characters and go crazy, or shy in Jacie's case. I had Karlie in the stroller and we were walking when all of the sudden she bolts out of the stroller and starts pointing all excited. She saw Mickey, Goofy, and Pluto and was heading over to see them. We stayed there until closing. Very nice day and not a lot of people there so it was great. We went to the hot tub almost every night at the condo so that was nice to get to relax. Tuesday night, Karlie decided to get one of her 105 fevers. We were up with her till 4:00 in the morning trying to get her fever down. So when you see pictures of us you'll know why we look like Zombies!
On Wednesday we were going to go to Sea World but with Karlie sick and it being 1 1/2 hours away we decided to go up to Long Beach to the aquarium there. It was actually quite fun. We got to touch sharks, stingrays, and Jacie's favorite; starfish. It was a big aquarium and had lots of fish. We all liked it when a diver got in the tanks and this one fish kept rolling and swimming through the diver's bubbles. It was so funny. He acted like a dog! We went to Bubba Gump's Shrimp for lunch and then on down to Huntington Beach. We walked out on the pier to Ruby's Diner and got ice cream and shakes. That is my new favorite place to eat! We ate there three more times on our vacation. Maybe that's why I've gained 8 pounds! We played on the beach for a while and then went back because Karlie was starting to not feel good again. We were up with her every 4-5 hours that night trying to keep her fever down.
We went back to Disney on Thursday. It was busier and it took longer to go on rides. We waited 1 1/2 hours to see the princesses but it was worth it to see Jacie's face. She loves princesses and she was so excited yet so star struck she could hardly talk. That was a highlight for me. The little girls favorite ride was the "little people ride" which after a minute we figured out it was It's A Small World. Tanner went with grandma and grandpa over to play on the island because he does not like to ride rides. Kyrie was good to go with us and go on the little kids rides. All the adults were ready to leave and I could tell she wanted to go on a big kid ride one more time so I asked her which one and she picked Splash Mountain so we went on that. I got stuck in the very front and I got soaked! It took me a long time to dry out! We love Disneyland. It has some very special memories for us and we were glad we were able to go again and add to them.
On Friday we just wanted to have a day to relax. We went shopping and then down to the beach. Jacie loved the beach! She couldn't decide if she liked the beach or Disneyland better. She really could be a California girl. (She also got excited about the green grass since we are still snow covered here at home) It took Karlie a while to like it but soon she was having fun and getting wet. I could stay on the beach all day. It is just so relaxing and of course Tanner and Kyrie had a blast building castles and running from the waves.
We left on Saturday and met my brother (who was going over to Disneyland) at a mall. It was so fun to get to see them and to hold baby Trigg (who at this moment is in the hospital in California with pneumonia-get better buddy!) I was afraid he'd be crawling before I got to see him. Always love to see my family and my cute niece and nephews. We drove to Provo that night. Atila made us drive all night. We got there at 12:30 in the morning!
We got up Sunday morning and was home by three. What a fun week, except for Karlie getting sick. It was actually a vacation we enjoyed and got to relax instead of just go, go, go. I'm grateful for all the opportunities I have to travel. Keeps me sane!
