Happy Birthday Tanner!

Tanner turned nine last Saturday! I can hardly believe he is that old. Still seems like he should be five.
On Thursday after school we took a bunch of his friends bowling for his birthday. What a crazy time that was. I was trying to keep track of 7 little boys and keep score at the same time. We ordered pizza and breadsticks and then ate the cake I made. He had a good time.
Saturday was a different story. Jacie was in the hospital (more on that later after I develop pictures) so I wasn't there to make him breakfast or wish him Happy Birthday that morning. I felt so bad. Kyle took him and a friend to a movie that afternoon and then that evening we opened presents at the hospital and then dad and grandma and grandpa took him out for pizza. Andrea had dinner at her house on Sunday and Kyle had made him a cheesecake. I still think he had a good birthday despite all the craziness that was going on.
Happy Birthday Bud- I sure do love you!

Happy Birthday Tanner!

I saw a picture of this cake on someones blog that took a cake class from a famous cake decorator. I somehow got it in my head that I wanted to try to duplicate it. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Kyle helped me make the structure for it out of pvc pipe. It took 8, 8in cakes to make the body and then I molded the head, legs, and tail out of modeling chocolate and then covered it in fondant. I thought it turned out pretty good considering I've never sculpted something of that magnitude. Tanner loved it and so did his friends so that is all that really mattered.

Funny story about the cake though: It was attacked by another dinosaur and suffered damage. Yep Karlie got to it. I went to take a shower and I really didn't have anywhere else to put it. It was too heavy to move too many times. When I got out Karlie was eating something that looked like a popsicle. I got closer and noticed she had pulled out the arm and was eating it. (The fondant does taste like marshmallow!) Well that wasn't the only causualty. I really tried to keep an eye on her the rest of the day but when I went to change the laundry I came back and saw that she had attacked the figure of Tanner and ate his legs right off! So the pictures only show his face and body. I just told Tanner the dinosaur ripped him in two!

Funny but only if it doesn't happen to you

We were sitting in stake conference when Jacie had to use the restroom. So I take her and the next thing I know Kyrie is coming into the bathroom to tell my that my friend said I forgot to zip up my skirt. (The kind of skirt where the zipper is in the back and it is a big long zipper) I knew I hadn't and looked and sure enough the stupid zipper had broke right off. I was really ticked because I had just bought it at GAP and was the first time I wore it. It wasn't tight on me and I was mad it broke. Then it dawned on me that several people got a glimpse of my backside as I walked down to the bathroom. So I sent Kyrie back to tell Kyle and Cherie, thankfully, had a few safety pins on her so I just slid the skirt to where the zipper was on the side and made the best of it!
Good thing I have a sense of humor!

Yeah! We got an Easter miracle today! For the first time in a very long time it was nice today. Nice as the weather was nice. We got to go outside and hide our eggs! That never happens and when it does it's freezing. So I was grateful to the man upstairs for providing us with a lovely day. We hid eggs, played outside, and went for a bike ride.
This morning the children were up nice and early. You would have thought it was Christmas instead of Easter when they got up before 5:00 wanting to find their baskets. We sent them back off to bed only to be woken up an hour later. Sending them back to bed...we got up at 7:00. They found their baskets and then dad had to leave to go to a meeting.
For breakfast we had a "traditional" breakfast eating foods that Christ might have had. We had grapes, cantaloupe, nuts, bread, eggs...and then we talked about Christ and the resurrection. All last week we talked about his life and the last week of his life and the symbolism there. I hope they got something from it. At least how special it was for Him to give his life for us.
Then after church I made a big dinner for Kyle's parents and his brother and wife and new sweet little baby. We had a really great Easter, the best in years!

A Stitch in Time....Costs a Lot of Money!

Last Saturday, Tanner and Kyrie were playing baseball in the front yard. Tanner loves to slide, did so, and hit a cement paver that was buried in the snow. He sliced open his knee and we had to go get stitches. He was not a happy camper. I on the other hand was excited to be going to the emergency room for something minor. (what I considered to be minor anyway) We got up there and he need four big stitches. He was pretty brave. Braver when I told him I'd take him out for icecream afterwards!
Now he finally has a story to tell about the time he got stitches!

Thanks Grandpa and Grandma!

A couple of weeks ago my parents flew up and met us in Salt Lake for a quick visit. Aunt Kara got to come up to and we had us some fun! We went to the zoo, ate at the Mayan, went shopping, swimming, and miniature golfing. The boys went to a golf show while the girls went shopping. I'm glad that they could come up for the weekend and spend some time with the kids. My kids love to see them and have grandpa beat them up. Thanks for coming up grandma and grandpa!

Just wanted to put a few more pictures of Kyrie up.
